Western Sydney Catholic Schools hold the phone
Student mobile phone use will be banned across 80 Western Sydney Catholic schools from the beginning of the 2026 school year. The restriction presents a positive opportunity to enhance student outcomes, both in academic excellence and wellbeing.

Last week, Sacred Heart celebrated Feel Good Friday with a twist. Not only did we take time to look after our wellbeing, but we also raised money to support formation funds for Catholic Mission. As part of their Plan for Action in Religious Education and to live out the Mercy Value of Service, our Year 6 students organised a variety of activities for the whole school to enjoy — even the teachers joined in the fun. All Saints & All Souls Class Liturgies During the month of November, we remember and pray for all the faithful departed — the souls in purgatory — as a sign of our love and hope in God’s mercy. Our classes gathered in prayer to honour the saints and remember those who have gone before us. We especially invite families to pray the St Gertrude Prayer for the Holy Souls during this month of remembrance. Tradition tells us that by praying this prayer devoutly, 1,000 souls are released from purgatory. St Gertrude Prayer for the Holy Souls Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal Church, those in my own home, and within my family. Sacred Heart 2025 Art Competition In Creative Arts the students from Kindergarten to Year 6 took part in our first time ever school art competition! The theme was centred around creating an artwork to promote awareness of Australian Native Endangered Species. The students researched their animal or plant to identify what threatens their existence and the impact of the loss of that species on the environment. All the students have worked so hard on their amazing creations. The first place winners have been selected to enter an external competition Wild At Art with the Australian Conservation Foundation. Recently, Stage 3 participated in the CSDP Touch Football Gala Day at St Mary’s. All teams played well and had an amazing day. Congratulations to our Year 6 team who were crowned the winners of their division. Thank you to our wonderful parents who came and gave up their time to support our teams. It was very much appreciated by the staff and students. Well done to everyone who displayed sportsmanship, grit and school spirit.

This week, we were privileged to host Roydon, the St Vincent de Paul Society's Schools Engagement Officer for the Metropolitan region. Roydon spoke to our students about the incredible and essential charitable works of the St Vincent de Paul Society (Vinnies). He reminded us that the Vinnies mission is to put faith into action by serving those in need in our local and wider community. Students learned that Vinnies offers a 'hand up' to the most vulnerable through: Providing food hampers and assisting with utility bills. Supporting people experiencing homelessness. Offering education support and finding a voice for the voiceless through advocacy. A huge thank you to Roydon for inspiring our students to be a part of a more just and compassionate society, following the example of our Catholic faith. Nagle College Launches New STEM Scholarship for Future Innovators
Nagle College Blacktown has announced the launch of the “Christine Howe STEM Academic Scholarship”, a new opportunity designed to support and inspire young women passionate about STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics). Students enrolling in Year 7 from 2026 are eligible to apply for the scholarship, which reflects the College’s ongoing commitment to excellence in learning within a supportive Catholic community.
