This week Sacred Heart will be learning about Refugee Week – a special time when we think about people who have had to leave their homes because it was not safe. These people are called refugees.
A refugee is someone who had to leave their country to find safety, often because of war, danger, or unfair treatment. Many refugees have lost their homes, and sometimes even their families.
Refugee Week is important because it helps us learn about the journeys of refugee families and how we can be kind, welcoming, and understanding—just like Jesus.
This week, we want to show kindness and welcome.
Here are some of our ideas:
✨Make welcome posters for our school
✨Learn about different countries where refugees come from
✨Write prayers of hope for refugee families
✨Smile and include someone who feels left out
✨Give thanks for our safe homes and families
✨Share books and stories about refugee journeys
We hope everyone will join us in being like Jesus – kind, loving, and welcoming!
Thank you to Year 2 for leading us in this plan for action that links with our Mercy Value of Hospitality!
