We are a Kindergarten to Year 6 primary school where our students are nurtured, respected and encouraged to become the best learners they can be.

We are proud to be part of the Westmead Catholic Community, which includes our sister school Mother Teresa Primary, and secondary schools Catherine McAuley and Parramatta Marist High.

Year 3 and the Year 6 Liturgy team had a very special privilege to visit the lovely residents at Cabrini. The students were so excited to deliver and present the residents with packages of Easter Eggs and Easter cards from the community of Sacred Heart. The residents were so humbled, appreciative and grateful. This gesture and the presence of the students put a massive smile on their faces. Year 3 sang a special sign language song about Friends to the residents and they were a great hit and made their day. The students also got an extra special treat where the staff provided them with a special morning tea. Sacred Heart would like to thank the Cabrini staff for being so hospitable and generous and we hope all the beautiful residents had a very Happy Easter.

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus experienced a profound moment of anguish and prayer shortly before his arrest and crucifixion. According to the Gospels, Jesus went there with his disciples after the Last Supper. He asked his disciples to stay awake and pray while he prayed alone. Feeling overwhelmed with sorrow, Jesus prayed to God, asking if it was possible for the cup of suffering to be taken away from him, yet ultimately submitting to God's will, saying, "Not my will, but yours be done." During this time, Judas Iscariot arrived with a group of soldiers and betrayed Jesus with a kiss, leading to his arrest.

Holy Thursday falls on the Thursday before Easter Sunday and marks the beginning of the Easter Triduum, the three-day period that includes Good Friday and Holy Saturday, leading up to Easter Sunday. On Holy Thursday we commemorate Jesus' act of humility in washing his disciples' feet, and the celebration of the Eucharist.

In mid-March, Year 6 students from 58 primary schools across the Diocese of Parramatta gathered in Penrith to participate in a new formation experience developed by the Catholic Schools Parramatta Diocese Mission Team called Encounter.

Palm Sunday commemorates Jesus Christ's triumphant entry into Jerusalem. Crowds welcomed Jesus by waving palm branches and laying them on the road before him as he rode into the city on a donkey. This event marks the beginning of Holy Week, the most solemn and sacred week in the Christian liturgical calendar.

Year 4 have spent time unpacking what the bible is while looking at sections of the Old and New Testament. The students have researched and sequenced different events from the bible. They have begun to unpack the meaning of scripture, its purpose and how it is connected to our time. The students have looked at a number of passages and parables and have recorded their reflections and understanding.

Our students in year 3 have really dived into their understanding of Lent focusing on the scripture ‘Concerning Almsgiving’ Mt 6:1-4. “Beware of practicing your righteousness before others in order to be seen by them, for then you have no reward from your Father in heaven. “So whenever you give alms, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be praised by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward. But when you give alms, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, so that your alms may be done in secret, and your Father who sees in secret will reward you”. We unpacked the story of ‘Concerning Almsgiving’ and the students came up with some great ways to show their understanding of the meaning behind the scripture passage. Students then wrote a prayer to God about their lenten promise.

Our Feel Good Friday was filled with smiles as students enjoyed a variety of relaxing activities, from outdoor games to bingo, directed drawing, thankful cards, mandala coloring, and meditation. Teachers also joined the fun, indulging in barista coffee and pastries.

Stage 3 had a fantastic time building memories at Camp!! They embraced challenges, worked together, strengthened friendships and pushed their limits on the high ropes, gorge swing, zip line and while hiking and canoeing. It was certainly an extraordinary adventure for all! -Part 1
