๐ฅ Shrove Tuesday at Sacred Heart โ๏ธ Today our students marked Shrove Tuesday, reflecting on the meaning of Lent through in-class liturgies and prayer, ahead of Ash Wednesday. A highlight was enjoying delicious pancakes together as a school community! ๐ฅ A heartfelt thank you to our wonderful parent helpers for serving the pancakes. We are so grateful for your support. Thank you also to Mrs Ward and Mrs Esposito for organising the order and helping make the day such a success. A beautiful way to prepare our hearts for the Lenten journey. ๐ #sacredheartwestmead

Today Miss Matienzo, along with our student representatives from the Mission Team, attended the Project Compassion Launch at St John XXIII. Our students joined peers from over 50 primary and secondary schools across the Parramatta Diocese. Together, they listened to powerful stories of communities who suffer due to limited access to clean water. These stories inspired thoughtful discussions and brainstorming about how we can raise awareness and walk in solidarity with others during Lent. We were privileged to hear from Bishop Vincent and Mr De Groot, who spoke about the importance of compassion in action and our shared responsibility to support those most in need. Our representatives also connected with students from Mother Teresa Primary and Mrs Dennis, sharing ideas and reflecting on how young people can make a real difference. Our Mission Leaders are excited to share what they have learned with our school community and to lead us in our upcoming fundraising initiative โ the Water Walk. More details coming soon! Exciting news for Sacred Heart Parish Westmead! Construction has officially begun on the new church and expanded parish facilities at Darcy Road. As we celebrate 75 years of faith and service, this milestone honours our rich history while building a vibrant future for our growing community. A special highlight of the day was student representatives joining in the sod-turning ceremony โ proudly taking part in this historic moment for our parish.

Our Year 3 students have been exploring what it means to belong to a faith community. Through thoughtful discussions and shared reflections, they have been learning about how we support one another, pray together, and grow in faith as a community. As part of this learning, students designed invitations to our upcoming Ash Wednesday Mass. They considered the importance of welcoming others and inviting them to join us as we begin the season of Lent together. We look forward to gathering as a community to celebrate this special time.

What a beautiful way to begin the year. Our Opening School Mass brought our community together in faith and joy as we warmly welcomed our new students, teachers, and families โ especially our newest Kindy students as they begin their learning journey. We also celebrated a special milestone for our Year 6 students, who were presented with their crosses and officially commissioned as our 2026 student leaders. May these crosses remind them to lead with kindness, service, and compassion as role models within our school community. Thank you to everyone who joined us for this meaningful celebration. We look forward to a year filled with learning, faith, and connection.
